A great find, Jaybud! I've never thought of using ranged weapons' tags to make this effect. But the question is: if that kind of ammo appears in dwarf's inventory someway, won't he shoot it with his bracer?

I should definitely return to upgrade my Fallout mod :). There're obvious glitches I should fix.

I figured he did that on purpose.

Indeed I did, explained by the:
(hehehehe  ;D)

It appears my form of irony is not explainable by some...

Hehe!  :D
I blame it on my bad english knowledge, that I wasn't able to spot it.. :-X

Yes, this was explained multiple times before.
That's why I used blowdarts.
They're in the vanilla raws, so just copying the weapon won't spring up errors, and they're completely unobtainable in vanilla as well, preventing that issue.
Don't blame me if he starts shooting stuff with his bracers if you give him that ammo...
Oh yes, and of course the obvious if he DOES shoot stuff, it uses the skill used in the RANGED: tag, not the skill in the SKILL: tag.
Kinda counter-intuitive, if you ask me.
Should have a definable RANGEDSKILL, MELEESKILL, and, until we get a proper fix for the Military screen, WEAPONTYPE: (the types of weapons ie SWORD, SPEAR, etc)
That way we can work around the issue until it's fixed properly.
Anybody else take this view?

RANGED is the ranged skill, and SKILL is the melee skill.  I seem to recall seeing that fixing the weapons options in the military screen is planned for the next update, or at least fairly soon.

Weapons that use nonstandard ranged skills don't seem to make dwarves collect ammo, or provide it in adventure mode.  I added a hunting hatchet in one mod, and my hunter just seems to use it for hand-to-hand, even with the appropriate ammo available.

Did you try hitting 'f' for firing projectiles since it was in adventure mode? If not then all he will do will be to hit people hand to hand with it.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

RANGED is the ranged skill, and SKILL is the melee skill.

..Yes, I knew that.  That was the point.

I seem to recall seeing that fixing the weapons options in the military screen is planned for the next update, or at least fairly soon.

Well, then...

Weapons that use nonstandard ranged skills don't seem to make dwarves collect ammo, or provide it in adventure mode.  I added a hunting hatchet in one mod, and my hunter just seems to use it for hand-to-hand, even with the appropriate ammo available.

Works just fine for me...
Give me the code for the ammo and the hatchet, let's see where you went wrong.

It was not in Adventure mode.
