Prioritising tasks.
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:50:03 am »

2 things;

1. Prioritise tasks
2. mark certain area's of a task (Such as mining out a certain location) as a critical task.

I get anoyed how the dwarves seem to treat every job as uninportant.
For instance, my miners will gather wood rather than mine if the wood was closer.
So it would be good if I could tell my dwarf not to pick up wood, and any other less critical tasks, inless there where no mining jobs.

There are also times where I whant my dwarven miners to focus on one location(Such as when I wanted to make a room for a carpenters workshop to make beds), but the only way I can do that is make all the other jobs inacecible, and they STILL find another job to do.

So I just want to be able to say to my dwarf "Mine at that now", or mark tat location a priority task.

Some form of priority control would be very useful.

"Gathering rat remains can wait; carry the trade goods to the Depot first!"

I'd prefer they prioritized based on how skilled they were too.

- More skilled dwarfs should be preferred for tasks with quality.
- Lesser skilled dwarfs should be preferred for tasks that have no quality.

Like smoothing vs, engraving, for example?

That would be nice, if I could designate less skilled engravers for the task of smoothing, and only my elites allowed to engrave.

I typically don't allow engravers to engrave things until they're at least master engravers, and usually not until they're high master engravers.  I want quality, drat it!
