He isn't digging or building up at all. No z-axis.

Oh wait, never mind. What's the point of this topic, anyway? Build a fortress on an easy location to show that you can?

Flat locations are easier to pick dig points in (dartboard style!), better for framerate, easier to see goblins on, easier to get initial lockdown with (retracting bridge over entryway, anyone?).  I wouldn't be able to get it going at all.  I need stuff to fret over, or I explode and start constructing combination waterfall/mulchers or something of the like.

bridge, not hatches, so wagons can go down the ramps.  Trolls haven't given me problems with it, but I also never encountered them in areas I use it.
