So, i've been playing df for a while now, and I just started the 40d17.  Perhaps this isn't a bug, but my miners started as regular miners, and by early summer, they were already legendary...  I've always had my miners digging all the time, but they never advanced that quickly before.

Are you digging mostly in soil? They'll hit legendary even quicker.

There are trait factors which can have a dwarf gain xp quicker, excellence bieng one of them and cautiousness seems to have an effect with sparring.

Also, if you turn off hauling, they'll spend more time digging rather than other stuff, so that can do it as well.
