weirdest thing happened. first i give my artifact rhesus marque bone spear to my champion fortress guard, next i get what looked like 2 seiges at once (the seige brought out an army but there was already a second goblin army of the same size out on the map) and when i fought them off and looked at there corpses later, one of the goblins  that got killed while retreating had an articfact rhesus marque bone spear....my fortress guard wasnt killed and i havant checked if he still has it but it seems to be the same one. do goblins really steal artifacts when retreating?

Not sure if they actually tried stealin' it or not 'cause I'm sure goblin thieves only try to take the kiddies, but it sounds to me like your dwarf managed to get the spear stuck in the goblin and couldn't yank it out when the goblin began retreating. So the goblin got to walk away with the spear in his... her... wherever.

Be thankful the goblin died before they could get off the map, otherwise you might've had a really... upset bone crafter. I think.

that explains it thx.....but my fortress guard werent allowed outside...wonder how it happened lol

No, he could leave, that's just for items that two units are holding at once.
