More Metals!
« on: September 25, 2008, 04:12:45 pm »

I've been playing around with this but I can't get what I'm looking for. How might I go about making ore seams about 10 times more common? I would like to try playing on a ultravolcanic, ultrametalic world.

You could try making entire layers out of ore-bearing rocks.

Get Dtil and use vein helper to convert existing useless stone into what you want, i often get rid of stupid crap like alunite which is in huge pockets and turn it into any iron ore.

I can give you the code for Blood-metal (a decorative metal) and Black-metal (Ebony if you've ever played morrowind, heavy black and opaque glass-metal if you haven't). Titanium and mithril also make good additions. If you need to see any of my code just give me a shout and I'll post.

I was considering making all [VEINS] into [LARGE_CLUSTERS]. However, I prefer the appearance of veins and I would like to make most rocks into simply a spiderweb of criscrossing ores, perhaps something more like in the 2D version. Any way to simply make veins more common?

I don't think that's really possible. The best you could do would be to make normal stone types into veins and large clusters as well as layers and vice versa with the ore-bearing rocks.

Well, you could replace all 'extra' stones like Alunite and Microcline with additional possibilities to have ore. I think all layers have X amount of "stuff" in them. So getting rid of anything other then the metals you want will make them show up anytime you would have had something else.
