[40d] After reclaim, farm plot broken
« on: September 25, 2008, 02:12:38 pm »

Started a new fort. Embarked about 12 squares from a magma pipe (yay). First 7 dwarves obliterated by fire imps (which also set the map on fire - that was awesome to watch).

I reclaimed and was doing pretty well. However, my original farm plot (on soil) is "locked". I cannot harvest anything. There are several plump helmets that just sit there, never rotting. I cannot deconstruct the farm either. Dwarves with the farming skill activate will say "No Job".

I can send a save file if necessary (if you promise not to laugh about the mistake that lead to flooding my main shaft with magma... ), but I don't know what files you need.

He needs the region file ([df folder]/data/save/region#), which, if zipped, normally fits on the Dwarf Fortress File Depot.
Also, flooding your fortress with magma? Haw! I've definitely never done that.
Nope.

Magma...flooded...your fortress? Good god, man. You talk as though it flows on its own or something!

Surely none of us chaps would chance upon such blunders. Tut tut.

I tried to flood my fortress with magma. but the sheer number of things i had going on crashed/corrupted my game.

also, its fun having your fisherdwarf make everything on one side of the brook turn to ash.

Did you remember to reclaim the farm plot (using the 'reclaim' designation)? Had to ask.

I don't think so, but then again I couldn't actually find a way to reclaim it. I checked K and Q - nothing. Did I miss something?

*sigh*

Okay, mark this one up to newb stupidity then. Didn't even know that option was there. That worked, thank you.

On a side note...could that be used to forbid fully grown farm plots, placing their contents in a sort of 'stasis'?

Oh, on another side-side note...in the main entrance hallway, there is a corpse of one of the Original Seven. It's still there, doesn't rot and no one will clean it up. I've checked, it's not forbidden. It is marked for dumping and there is a 'g'arbage dump zone.

Dead dwarves go into graveyard stockpiles, not garbage.

Got one of those too, last I knew. I'll double-check.
