And unlike a grizzly, a giant dwarf could drain the world of its booze in one night.  It could keep and train wardogs in its beard and unleash them upon its prey.  It could bash its enemies over an oceon.

That's why the gods of other races conspired to keep them small.  The elves heave a sigh of relief whenever they call the dwarves 'stunted'.
