Weather Effects
« on: August 31, 2008, 04:36:14 pm »

It would be cool to see some other weather effects other than just refilling stagnant pools and changing the grounds color. For example, it would be cool to see snow piling on the ground so high that dwarves couldn't walk through it, or maybe a tree catching on fire because it was hit by lightning. It would also be cool if rain would put out fires, and snow would melt into puddles.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - A fun zombie survival rougelike that I'm dev-ing for.

Snow drifts and sandstorms would be awesome. And typhoons. Acid rain?

Rain should leave water behind always. Perhaps have different types of rain where the lightest one leave little puddles of water behind, and the heavy hurricane type of rains have the potential to flood parts of the map if not irrigated right §closing off sections for example.

This opens ip ideas to build dams where water from rain gathers after running off hills etc.

Time to build roofs over your wooden houses people or they'll become aquariums! :p
