Hello, this is my first post here; I've been playing DF since November or December last year.  I cannot say in words how much I've been wanting a game like this to play!

I modded in a race and I have modded them as "play now!", but every time I start a character of this race, they immediately have serious wounds, and are all winded. Of course, making so many movements, I die of suffocation. Here are the new entries:

Your race has no mouth, hence cant breathe. Try adding ":MOUTH]" to the end of your body section

I've added ":MOUTH]" and they're still winded and suffocating.

No neck also makes you unable to get air to your lungs

There's no HEAD bodypart. There's BASIC_HEAD. Look in your errorlog from time to time.

Neck is optional too.

There's no HEAD bodypart. There's BASIC_HEAD. Look in your errorlog from time to time.

It was one of my most common mistakes when I started to mod creatures =).
And Sean is right. "errorlog.txt" is your best friend here.
