Outpost Lektadimuah
1st Granite 201, Early Spring of First Year.
We had no plans to settle here, but a dwarf has no choice but to dig a secure location when the hill is blackened around him by evil.  It started with what we thought to be an innocent hoary marmot, upon closer inspection it was undead.  Our two wardogs ripped the thing to splintered bones, two more undead marmots were torn apart by all 6 of our dogs. A rough count tallied 140 undead creatures in the area, we saw atleast 6 undead trolls.  Thankfully, they're mostly confined into the chasm, however, undead giant bats have been heard, we kept an eye to the sky as we dug for our lives.

2nd Granite 201.
We've begun unloading our equipment and placing it closer to the entrance.  We've built workshops and begun production of necessities and have planned out our first floor.  To our north we have the brook, to the south the chasm.  Our west and east sides are open to attack, but we've thought of a clever solution to that which will also end alot of our undead problems.

3rd Granite 201.
We cross the brook by the hour hauling goods to the stockpile, everytime I cross I thank the mountain-homes the water isn't deep enough to support undead carp.

4th Granite 201.
We've slated the wagon for deconstruction, theres no point in trying to run now.

5th Granite 201.
We've moved our picks and axes to the front door of our mountain home, it'll do us no good to have them stolen while we're working.

6th Granite 201.
I've moved the animals to the entrance along with the weapons, if we're attacked while we sleep we'll have some warning.

7th Granite 201.
Nearly thought we were under attack when the cat got all uppity about something, thankfully it was just a squirrel.

8th Granite 201.
We spotted some cavespider silk across the chasm with some animals remains.  Did I see this before or did it just showup?  I need to pay more attention to such things, I'd hate to be surprised by one of those. . .

9th Granite 201.
Our first priority is securing a reliable source of food and producing a basic defense on our front entrance, half of our farm rooms have been mined out and we told the busy body mason to stop his hauling and get his chisel and sledgehammer out for carving the front door.

10th Granite 201.
Started producing basic mechanisms for a stonefall trap or two at the front door.

11th Granite 201.
Begun work on some bedding, we're all very tired after all this work.

12th Granite 201.
A door and a mechanism is done, someone just needs to install them.  What protection they'll give when the majority of our work is still done outside I don't know.

13th Granite 201.
I'm thankful that the giant bats haven't attacked us yet, as close as they've flown they could of picked one of us off easy.

14th Granite 201.
To my Delight.  The front door has been installed.

15th Granite 201.
We've made the mechanic drop his axles and take on the pick.  We'll begin channeling out a stream that branches off from the brook, we'll have floodgates and a lever installed before we flood that chasm and all its vile evil so we can reclaim it again once it's been purged of its stench.

16th Granite 201.
Channeling has begun, construction of our first farm plot has begun.

17th Granite 201.
These boneheaded undead minions still seem content to sit in their chasm, if they haven't noticed us then we'll surprise em good with a nice spring cleaning.

18th Granite 201.
Decided to PARTAY and get hammered.

19th Granite 201.
Placed a bunch of beds in a spare room so we have somewhere to crash next time we get hammered.  We should think this through more next time.

20th Granite 201.
It's early yet for any Dwarven merchants to come looking for us, but I like to be prepared.  Trade Depo was scheduled for construction today.

21st Granite 201.
Our channel to the chasm is a third of the way done.  Our temporary bedroom is in place but the farm plot or kitchen area still hasn't been installed or even worked on.  Maybe I'm expecting too much?

22nd Granite 201.
Although it'll slow our progress, I need the floodgates installed and the farm produced.

23rd Granite 201.
All 3 floodgates and their lever have been installed, they have yet to be linked up though and the parts haven't even been produced.

24th Granite 201.
The Kitchen and Food production area have nearly been mined out.

25th Granite 201.
Begun planting Plump Helmets at our new farm.  Soon the cook will have more to do than simply cut down trees.

26th Granite 201.
We've become too complacent, as we worked a giant zombie bat came flying out of the chasm straight for us.  Although we were placated with work, the dogs were constantly agitated being positioned near the chasm.  All 6 of our hounds rushed the Monstrous beast.  However the beast took flight higher into the air and swooped down walloped a dog in the head, fracturing the dogs skull and breaking its leg.  Our Proficient Axedwarf Tekkud rushed to the area and he and the rest of the dogs pounced onto the bat and annihilated it.

27th Granite 201.
A zombie troll growled up from the chasm at us, as if he could reach us, the fool.  His skin was green in life and now his brain is rotting away too.

28th Granite 201.
Our Trade Depo has been completed.

1st Slate 201. Mid Spring of First Year.
We've begun linking up the floodgates to the lever, I don't care if the creatures in the chasm are a threat or not.  I will drown them all!

2nd Slate 201.
We've reached the chasm with our channeling.

3rd Slate 201.
Disturbed by falling debris, another giant bat has flown out from the abyss and attacks Tulon our Expedition leader.  Tekkud arives first on scene with his axe and holds off the bat for the first intense moments of combat while the dogs come running up the baren dirt land.  The dog pack took down the bat after Tekkud had been knocked unconceous.

4th of Slate 201.
Tekkud has bled to death, the wounds to his head too lethal for any of us to heal.  Without his protection we feel all the more vulnerable out here.

5th of Slate 201.
We've nearly finished linking the floodgates.

6th of Slate 201.
Production of kitchen and still has begun.

7th of Slate 201.
Produced alot of bins today to hold things.

8th of Slate 201.
One more floodgate to go, the channel is ready.  It's time to avenge Tekkud's death.

9th of Slate 201.
With Tekkud gone Udil is now in charge of taking care of the dogs.

10th of Slate 201.
Avenging Tekkud can wait. . . we need to get drunk and remember our old friend first.

11th of Slate 201.
Slept off the hangover.

12th of Slate 201.
Started linking up last floodgate to lever.

13th of Slate 201.
Nope, wanted to sleep some more. . . still hungover.

14th of Slate 201.
I aint going near to that chasm to dig out more channels, god damn trolls are scary and the bats are terrifying.

15th of Slate 201.
It seems no one else has the courage either, regardless if we have a swift watery death for the zombies we're pulling the lever as soon as the floodgates are linked.

16th of Slate 201.
Reg still hasn't continued his work on the floodgate, I kicked him in the face for sleeping for the entire week.

17th of Slate 201.
Reg started finishing his work, the lazy prick.  We're trying to avenge Tekkud the insensitive bastard.

18th of Slate 201.
Annoyed that no one will channel it properly, I've moved the jobsite over to the east more.

19th of Slate 201.
I always knew Erith was a block head, he channeled from the wrong side and created an island in the center of the chasm right as the other blockhead reg pulled the lever and released the water.  I screamed at Erith, "Make a ramp and get out of there!"  But he was too scared to do so as it forced him to look at the masses of undead down in the chasm.  So Tulon had to go do it for him as water was rushing down from the north.  Tulon escaped at the quick exit on the right.  Erith being a useless idiot tried to get out at the one farther up.  Water swept him back a bit but he managed to get to safety.  The knucklehead.

20th of Slate 201.
Water has begun to pour into the chasm.  I listen late into the night anticipating the moans of redeath from the undead.

21st of Slate 201.
Finished construction of Kitchen and Still, nearly done carving out the food and booze stockpile rooms, then we mine downwards to place our permanent residence and workshops.

22nd of Slate 201.
Placed designated locations for future farmers workshop, fishery and butchery.

Updates atleast once a week per every  month and a half.

The water will most likely just disturb more of the undead.

I would like to announce that this outpost has been destroyed by giant bats.  Two came at once and ate all my dogs and half my dwarfs.  The others eventually killed themselves someway somehow.
