So...

I created a custom 65x33 world with the following seeds:

In the legends of the civilization, "The Bridled Doors" it states in 7 that "the bodies of an unknown creature, an unknown creature, an unknown creature, the dwarf Unib Lonebust, and unknown creature, the dwarf Solon Peacefullanterns, the dwarf Ingiz Listenpaddles, an unknown creature, the dwarf Mosus Hazehandle and the dwarf Kol Pagebalance were hung from a Willow on Pig tail ropes..."

I've never seen this unknown creature entity ever pop up on Legends before.

Is it just because I've never encountered the creature and it hasn't updated in Legends yet? Or is the game trying to call up a creature that does not exist?

It's just historical figures that have been culled - at one point they were normal dwarves/elves/goblins etc., but since they didn't really do anything they were 'forgotten' by the program for the sake of saving memory.  You can set 'cull historical figures' to 'no' in the advanced worldgen parameters.

Hm, then I might have accidentally selected that when I was working on the world parms. Never knew that!

I was told in Legends that a heroic dwarf had married an unknown creature.  Now that's disturbing!

It's a clunky way of saying it, but no one's worked out a neat way of saying it yet. We used to have have heroes coming from "an unknown creature and an unknown creature", so I'm guessing it'll come eventually.
