[39e] Road/Bridge Placement
« on: August 02, 2008, 09:22:25 am »

For my first adventurer in the new version, I decided to be boring.  I found a road, found a town at one end, and decided to walk to the other end.  Of course I made it a little interesting and decided to throw fish at all the wildlife I saw (Broke a horse's tail with a chunk of $rainbow trout$!), but that's neither here nor there.

Anyway, strolling along, I hit a large bridge.  Since it was dark, I couldn't see what it was crossing, and just blithely wandered across.  I found the bridge ended abruptly, and the road picked up three tiles away.  Backing off and exploring a little, I found the stream that that big bridge covered was only 4 tiles wide, and the road actually picked up again about halfway underneath the bridge, complete with stone upward slopes.

I'm sure you already know about "bridges" across exposed chasms that go perfectly level, and wind up with one end of the bridge a few z-levels above the road it's supposed to connect to.  It's pretty silly looking.
