[39e] Beast cave in melting glacier filled with water
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:29:51 pm »

I posted this in the adventure mode forum and someone suggested it might be worthy of a bug report.  I did a quick search and found that the only underwater caves mentioned were spawned in the ocean.

This one is on a glacier.  The temperature around the area was not freezing though, so there were plenty of rivers flowing through the glaciers, bogging down my FPS.

Anyway, I was sent to kill a cyclops in this cave.

When I arrived, I came to a ... interesting sight.

The first floor of the cave had about 2/3 water, with the second floor ranging from 3 to 4 deep water.  The 3rd level was too deep for me to enter (I had no swimming skill).

Nothing was occupying the levels I went to, and I didn't get any "soandso has suffocated, frozen, drowned, etc" messages, so I assume everybody made it out okay.

I have a save of the world with an adventurer retired in a nearby village if you would like an upload, Commander Toady.

Yeah, a save prior to the realization of the cave as a local map would be best, but I'll be able to use whatever you've got.  I'll need the region folder in some kind of zip/rar/7z, and any new objects that were added to the raw folder.  If it's less than 20 megs, you can send it to toadyone@bay12games.com.  You can also try The Dwarf Fortress File Depot which has a special section for bugged saves.

I have to say, the melting ice cavern is a really awesome visual.

If the cave could be set up to only start melting *after* the (semi)megabeast was destroyed, that would be cool.  Probably has to wait for whatever arc magic is introduced in, though

Make a mega beast that generates coolness - causing half a map to become frozen - like an Ice Witch - then you are sent to slay her- all the ice begins melting and you have to escape!
