Canceled Rest because of hostile creature that is not there
« on: January 02, 2009, 11:00:32 pm »

So one of my fisherdwarves barely get's dragged away after being nearly killed by a fire man.  He is put into bed, and then I get a message "Sakzul Sinsotgoden, Fishery Worker cancels Rest: Interrupted by Fire Man."  and the fire man in question while still being very much at large, is man z levels away.  the message does not spam like in this error report,

but it does keep my dwarf from resting, which I suspect will make healing very difficult.  I've tried moving him to a different bed in a different area (remove bed he is on and someone else moves him to another unoccupied bed), and the same thing happens.
I'm currently using version 28.181.40d6

M: you fall into a pit and hit the hard floor on the bottom.  take 3d6 damage.
Afbee: ok, I climb out
DM: you end up climbing out the side you came in from.
Afbee: *sigh* ok, I jump over the pit.
DM: roll dex check... You made it over? ok then

I think this was actually a feature, not a bug.

People have this, I think its nightmares, where when the dwarf is sleeping, he recalls being horribly mauled, and then wakes up and goes "OH MY FUCKING GAWD IM BEING ATTACKED BY [insert fluffy wambler here]." and then realizes it was a dream so nothing happens.

Maybe we need a new profession. Dwarven psychologists.

/could be useful for curing that mayor's obsession with bismuth bronze items and floodgates

I have the same problem, but with a fire imp :(. I was built a big damn and an artificial lake (with full of water), and I took the poor fire imp (with it's cage) for a good old fashioned water bath :), but it survived the 7/7 water level (in his wooden cage :( ), and around when someone has took the creature back to the stockpile my carpenter screams about the the fire imp interrupts his rest (I'm guessing his not having any rest (every clock tick I get a message :(((( ))

Maybe this is another case of Z levels not being taken into account for straight-line distance calculations?

My gosh, I had this exact same problem with one of my kobold camps. One of my hunter kobolds was mauled by a wolf. She was recovered to a bed but kept waking up again. I gathered the army and dispatched the wolf.

She went to sleep and eventually made a full recovery.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

Nope, the 2 Caged Fire Imp is far away now (on the same Z level)
Where can I find a psychiatric for my shocked dwarf? :)

Yepp, I succeeded the killing of those 2 bastards (some mysterious way they felt good in knee deep water), and since they are dead, my dwarf with nightmare have finally shut up, and can continue recovery...
(btw: the empty wood cage is swimming on the water :) )

Same issue I had, but it also kills FPS.

Toady says its bug # 957 most likely.
