Stairways through solid floor.
« on: July 27, 2008, 05:39:34 pm »

I wonder if that is an important bug. The issue is, that if you have an up/down stair on or below a solid floor, you can carve/build stairs below or above (from above or below, respectively, meaning its build through that mentioned floor; also its possible to carve down into solid ground that way without ever scratching the floors). The dwarfs are then able to pass the z-levels, but if you remove the stairs, the solid floors will still be present... they seem to fit through the smallest gaps in it, if there are stairs to reach them.
A way to exploit this to build such a X-stair (updown, you know), carve in below, descent and remove the X from below, disappearing form the earth above without a trace. No real impact on game balance though. Yet i wonder if there will someday be enemies able to deconstruct constructed walls and such... then it would have a slightly higher impact to be able to preserve original stone floor.

Ah, I thought I had handled that (leaving a down stair carved if down or updown constructions are placed on the floor), but I guess it's not working.
