[39d] Dwarves have stopped moving
« on: July 24, 2008, 12:58:59 pm »

All my dwarves have refused to move anymore, save for one miner. They're just standing in the meeting area, dying of thirst, even though there's a clear path to the food stockpile.

Is the meeting area outside?

Yes, the meeting area was outside, but they were using it fine before. It may have to do with my designate dumping some rocks that were designated hidden, but only Toady would know for sure.

And I hadn't even cut down any trees yet.

I've noticed that dwarves caught above ground -that is, not even outside- will stop all they are doing and not move if you forbid dwarves from going outside. Those actually outside move fine; only those in an inside aboveground area seem paralysed.

Right, this sounds like previously reported bugs, though I don't remember if they were ever fixed. See this or this, for example. There was another that I remember that I tried to find, it had a picture with the person's maze-like entrance and their woodcutter or something got froze in place because they had an outdoor meeting zone (right on the steps that lead down into the fortress), but I can't find it :(
