Armour designation.
« on: July 25, 2008, 07:49:21 am »

Here's a question that I haven't found an answer to anywhere.

If you order a dwarf to wear armour that is not avalible will they use the next best thing or just go around unarmoured?

e.g. I order my swordsdwarf to wear plate, but there is none left. Will he try to wear chain until some is avalible or just wait for some plate to free up?

Thanks!

New question! If I were to remove elves [INTELLIGENT] tag in the raws, would it work?

Would have been pretty easy to type "yes" or "no", too, but I guess how can you earn Internet Smart-Ass Points doing that?

I would, but my current fort is quite a while away from having any large amounts of metal goods and I'd like to know weather it's safe to just set all my millitary dwarves to plate in advance. I wish there was a "Wear the best armour you can find" option, it would make it a lot easier  :P

Aah, that's a shame. Well, there's a suggestion for the next patch, an option for them to wear the best armour avalible  :P

but when you first have them don leather armour, then set them for heavy, they keep the bonegreaves etc.

In fact it can become difficult to get them to drop those inferior items.

Hey, Can I trade IS-APs in for anything good? If so, I need to start earning some.  :)

Nah, a smart-ass is someone who can sit on ice cream and tell you what flavour it is.  :)

Yes, they'll wear whatever's available up to the specified armor type.
