Wiki decision
« on: August 16, 2006, 10:01:00 am »

The two main dwarf fortress wikis seem to be:

#1

#2

The wikia page seems fairly good, but Aquillion pointed out that Dwarf Fortress does not really meet their policy requirements, so I suggest we avoid spending more time on it.

I already made an account on the first one, so that's my vote for a fairly arbitrary reason.  It's endorsed by a playtester!   :p

The sooner we all decide on a wiki, the better.  Which wiki should we focus on?

edit: link fix!  link fix!

Ulf.  I don't like the new organization that they seem to be using on the first one, with strangely-chosen categories on the front page and so on...  but I don't like the way the second one puts everything from a broad category (say, every piece of furnature) onto one huge page.  It's our wiki, so one of the advantages we have is the ability to make a page for each and every little thing!  Eventually I'm sure there will be more than enough to say about, say, beds to cover their own page.

Just edit the front page to something better, really. No reason what's there now has to stay there as it is. I just prefer the one sans ads, myself, even if they are just google ads.

Well, it was actually me that started the wiki at http://gameinfo.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page,  though i barely written anything into it.
I'd switch to the new one, though. It looks a bit nicer and more proffesional.

I suppose since http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Main_Page  has no ads, we should just focus on this one.

If there are any objections, (other than things we can edit to be better) go ahead and chime in sooner rather than later!

Dude, I'm hurt.  :p.

I whipped up that main page and it can be changed. The categories haven't been implemented yet and were as much content filler than anything else (sort of ipsum loren stuff).

Hopefully we can come up with something that works for everyone.

Not hosted on a free server, so I'm voting this one.

Oh one more thing, I just bought http://dwarffortresswiki.net  but it's probably going to take a couple of days to go live.

EDIT: Jesus Christ, it's already pointing to the wiki! Apis rocks!
