The War of Boring
« on: July 23, 2008, 11:38:14 pm »

All details of this story are entirely true as they appeared in the Legends screen. Some dramatisation and assumptions are made to enhance the storytelling aspect. :)

In 141, "The War of Boring" was waged by "The Council of Holes" (beautiful concidence!) on "The Buck of Seals", along an arid desert road between two human towns.

In this lonely desert setting, "The Council of Holes" was lead by one human male, whose personal grudge was the effect of years of bloodshed and strife against his race by the elves. Historical records tell the dispute was over the devouring of sapient beings- but how did it come to be that this human lead his council into the desert to their eventual defeat at the hands of their enemies?

Amic Brushedbraid was born in a village called Takecreek in 127. When he was 8 years old, he moved to the village of Mopyawn, and a few years later became a shopkeeper there. During his one year tending "The Harvester of Liberating", he married his wife, Sushsath Palmhelp, and moved in with her. Together, they became members of a religious group called "The Lovely Communion". That was in the year 136.

Five years previously, in 131, the neighbouring human town of Virtueshocked was attacked by a large force of bloodthirsy elves called "The Drink of Entering". They called their civilisation "The Buck of Seals", and were at war with "The Fleshy Nation", the human civilization to which the towns belonged. Protecting Virtueshocked was a human named Rimtil Bloodvices the Sable Chain of Obeying, a local hero who struck down at least three-score of the elven cannibals singlehandedly. Unfortunately, Rimtil was eventually struck down by one of the attackers, and all of the human defenders in the town were wiped out that day. After the battle was concluded, the elves either devored or drowned anyone still left. Virtueshocked was thus historically destroyed for the first time.

The elven civilisation of "The Buck of Seals" continued to wage furious war against the humans over the next few years. Meanwhile, Amic and Sushsath had both become Priests of "The Lovely Communion" and were devout worshippers of Takru, the human god of inspiration, poetry, and persuation. Amic rose in popularity within his town, and became leader of "The Council of Holes", who had founded the town of Mopyawn itself in a time before written history even began.

The endless war was looking grim for the humans of "The Fleshy Nation", and something had to be done before the elves dominated their lands.

Ten bloody years of war passed, and now Virtueshock was once again under siege by "The Drink of Entering"- the same group that brought it crumbling down before. It was at this time that Sushsath, Amic's wife, was sent by "The Fleshy Nation" to help in the defense of Virtueshocked. But the defense went wrong- very wrong. Sushsath and everyone else was killed and devoured by the elves in the year 141, and once again, the town of Virtueshock was destroyed.

The elves, high on their victories, were now on the march, and were hungry for more bloodshed. Their next destination was Mopyawn. Amic, having heard the terrible fate of his wife in Virtueshocked, and desperate to protect his hometown, left his newborn son in Mopyawn and rode hard to meet the elves before they reached the defenceless townsfolk. He had heard there was only a small number of the group left- and he wanted to be the one who finally brought an end to this conflict. If not for his nation, then for his wife, who gave up her life to protect her family. He would be a hero, he would honor his wife's memory, and he would protect his only son- no matter what.

Accompanying Amic was Tunul Baldkin, the previous leader of the Council, and a select few guards from Mopyawn. As they rode along "The Emancipated Ways" that connected Mopyawn with Virtueshocked, their minds and hearts were set on defeating their enemies one and for all.

Amic and "The Council of Holes" met the remnants of "The Buck of Seals" in the desert, halfway between Mopyawn and Virtueshocked. There were 8 of them- the battle was bloody, but the humans stood no chance. His banner fell, and "The War of Boring", the war which had promised to bring victory and peace for the humans at last, had ended almost as soon as it begun. Amic was dead. "The Council of Holes" was defeated.

And the elves marched on...

In 142, "The Buck of Seals" finally sieged Mopyawn, where Amic's 1-year-old son remained alone under the care of the local residents. Unfortunately, the poor child's fate was now sealed. With the council defeated and the local guards all but outnumbered, the humans were helpless; the town of Mopyawn was ransacked and destroyed. And as for Ngahen Greaterblizzards, only son of Amic Brushedbraid and Sushsath Palmhelp... he was fed to beasts.

Thus ends the tale of the defeat of "The Council of Holes" at "The War of Boring". Rest in peace, Amic, Sushsath, and their only son Ngahen.

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

Nicely told! The game certainly does generate these interesting histories, even at the level of mere individuals.
