Whoops
« on: May 06, 2003, 11:36:00 pm »

Melted my first creature by accident...  I had body temp set at 3100 1/10 deg K, and the melting points of all tissues set at 1000 deg K, but it interpreted the last one in 1/10 deg K, resulting in the melting of all life on the planet.

Oh yeah, and when all of the trees melted, they kept bleeding, since trees can't die yet...  eventually they all went into shock...  thick pools of sap...

Next thing is to make the puddles of melted stuff...  I haven't really considered how to make the gas if there's gas...  maybe just print a bunch of dots for now.

Hope that helped clear things up... dont go all schizophrenic on me before the magic release!

Will the goo from a melted creature slide down slopes in time? I guess on a grassy hill it'd mostly soak into the ground, depending on how thick it is.

Fluid flows were going to be added when I do oceans.  On the whole, it is probably the hardest thing I'm ever going to program.  Then stuff will run down walls and hills...

But I think you're probably right.  If it's really viscous and stuck in the grass, it'd just sit there.

Once undead are added, then when people have their skin melt off, they'll look like skeletons in places, and once you get the temperature up to the point where the bone chars and blackens, the player should look like Luke's aunt and uncle from the first star wars movie.

Quick vote for everyone, what do you like more: Polished white skeletons with various shields and weapons -or- black charred skeletons that walk around and look like they have been movie stars from SW the first movie?

I vote White

I vote it depends on how they were made...
I mean.. if a necromancer carefully prepares the skeleton using nice utensils like maggots and such.. and polishes and strengthens the bones.. by letting them soak in milk or something crazy like that....
then they should be white...
If the skeletons are formed from the chared corpses of some soldiers who were blasted by firey magic... then maybe they should be black and chared.. like certain movie stars ;-)

Blistering and frostbite are almost done.  I still need to deal with the differences between body materials freezing and circulatory material freezing...  people seem to have a thing for targeting the circulatory material in the literature.  Like boiling blood...  freezing blood...  I don't know.  There's not too much to be gained from the distinctions, but it would be cool to have the heated blood respond properly.  That is, when it turns to gas the body part would explode, even if the body materials themselves are still cool/in solid state.  Also, your brain can melt, but if is in your skull, it shouldn't drip out on the ground like it does now.  It should just stay in the skull and be melted.  This important enough to do I think.  Of course, if the brain is super-heated until it turns to gas, perhaps the pressure could build high enough that the skull shatters.  Then maybe skull chips would stick out of the face and so on.  It's all very complicated, but maybe I should ignore most of this for now.

Toady... I am disappointed with you... Haven't you learned ANYTHING from cartoons... You have watched cartoons atleast once or twice in your life I presume? Well the unwritten law of the cartoons go like this: PressureInskull x AmountOfStuffPressurized = SteamOutOfEars

Now if you excuse me, I got an evil plan to create...

Evil Plan Generator

Ideal gas law
P*V=n*R*T

P=pressure, in pascals (1 newton/meter^2)
V=volume, in cubic meters
n=ammout of material in moles.  1 mole = 6.022*10^23 (particles) (or was it 10^22??  I dont remember).  1 mole = (atomic number) grams of material
R=ideal gas constant=8.31451*joules/(moles*degrees_kelven)
T=temprature in kelven

I dont think steam coming out of the ears would be a good addition to an otherwise realisic game...    :roll:
