This isn't all that dramatic, but it was kinda funny.  I found a mayor who had started worshiping a megabeast. I didn't realize this until he gave me a quest to kill it, and I recognized it as the same name he had praised a few lines above.

So I went and killed his deity.  "Amazing!  You are a champion!"  But he still greeted me with "Praise be to Bengel Trustbite the Feral Armors."

He's probably still scared of him even though he's "supposedly" dead.

Indeed.  Having my own religion would surely make for an interesting legends screen!

After I finished the last quest he had for me, he told me "When you wake up in the morning, go with Bengel Trustbite the Feral Armors."  So now I'm carrying around the body as a backup throwing weapon.
