Zombies and Skeletons
« on: July 23, 2008, 01:16:17 am »

An interesting idea occured to me while working around a bunch of skeletal monkeys; what if undead gave off Miasma/flies/packs of rats followed them around?  I'm not sure if that could even be done with modding, but it would add an aspect of active decay to them that I think would be just dandy.

Zombies already give off puffs of miasma if the get underground.  Remember that outdoors, the miasma disappears.

What you need to do is that corspes left outdoors will turn into skeletions if left out too long.

I'd really like that! Leave corpses outside for too long on evil biomes and they get up again. Sometimes as a zombie, sometimes as a skeleton. Forget to clean up the battlefield properly after a siege and BAM! Undead all over the place!  ;D

I think I remember reading somewhere about how that used to be the case, it was an event that happened, the dwarves that died on your site where raised by a wizard or something.

Yes, rising dead used to happen, previous versions even had the dialog text for it - "It is a place of great evil. It is rumored that the dead rise and stalk the living!".

?

Nooooo, they never actually "rose up". There were undead civs a long time ago, but I don't think we've ever seen the undead animated before our eyes.
