So while trying to generate quests of my own, in the process I seem to have stumbled upon something interesting..

It seems a goblin adventurer of mine, who went on a killing spree in a dwarven town and was then brought to bloody justice by an archon (IIRC I threw a sword at him and it cut off his head) in his home town, and was later put on display like a criminal by his own people!



Once a hero, now merely a corpse rotting on a pole as a warning that failure is not acceptable. What an end. All glory is truly fleeting.

Goblins don't bury their dead, they impale them on spikes so the crows can peck out their eyeballs, thus continuing the circle of life, death, and rebirth.

Shoot, goblins and elves really have gotten confused.


Or maybe they just wanted to spruce the place up a bit.

Heh, that reminds of a wierd town I saw in one of my worlds' legends.

This elven civ had settled down in a forest retreat somewhere but were quickly 'evicted' by the local goblin group who then proceded to impale everone on spears and hang them from trees before leaving.

Later on the civ sent a group to reclaim the site, which suffered the same fate.

This continued on for almost 300 years (with several attempts per year) and each time the elves would be impaled/hung in the ruins of the town. I can only imagine what it must have looked like at the end!

It is an ancient solemn tradition for goblins to impale their most honoured dead on spikes, to simulate them still standing upright. It shows that though their bodies have died, their memories and legacy live on.

Also, it's easier than digging a grave.

I think it's so they can have adamantine spears sitting around that can't be taken by throw-happy adventurers.  So close, but yet so far!!
