Would it be possible to add a slight clarification into a future release?

For quadrapedal beings (Ice Dragons for example) could it be added such that when a leg is hit or used or injured or whatever that it would indicate whether it is a fore leg or hind leg. This way if one leg is injured you would know precisely which one and alter your stance to hobble about on the other three rather than using that leg and maybe furthering damage.

Yeah, some people have 24 bit and some 32 bit.  I don't have code to query for graphics modes on the top of my head, so I just put Full Screen mode down to 16 bit, which I think most people have.  I didn't notice any decrease in the color quality, but all this programming lately might have damaged my eyes :)

I guess I could set up parry preferences like aim preferences -- since the creature bodies are all random, I couldn't just have "upper/middle/lower", but I can use the aiming set up so that you can block your center, your head, your stance points.  I'm not sure what it means to be guarding grasps...  maybe the left hand guards the right and viceversa :)

All of the entertaining combat scenarios have been written down on a notepad.  I'll put them up on the future page when I get a chance.

The BIG bug:  He he.  My brother has been complaining about that.  He hates starting with a titan broad sword and then dropping it after a while, but somehow he has skill with it and so on.  Definitely an oversight that needs fixing.

Yeah, a megagram is a thousand kilograms, which is (I think) 2200ish pounds.

I think somewhere up there we were talking about parrots and so on basically riding leprechauns :)  Riding is friendly wrestling -- anything that you could mount in wrestling can be ridden.  The ride just won't be interesting if you are too large or the mount is otherwise stationary.  I got to ride a tortoise as a kid.  That was intense.

Big boars!  Like Princess Man-an-oh-ke (no clue how to spell it)!  In that vein we should have flesh-eating monkeys.

On charging, I think in general things are going to become a little more complicated (maybe with the stuckins release).  I mean, right now, critters essentially do the Rogue thing and just stand there and exchange shots.  That's fine in Rogue, because you can imagine more is going on, but once we have 3D models it will be quite clear that both combatants are behaving stupidly.  I'm not sure how this will be changed -- in my experience with swordfighting, the combatants tend to move and maintain a distance at times.  I guess weapon reach will partially introduce this.  If the combatants are moving more, terrain will also become more important.

I'll do that now.  It has especially been bothersome for corpse processing, since I didn't know what I was chopping off.

I guess there should be penalties for using a damaged part as you suggest...  even if it doesn't cause more direct damage as you use it (say it is just cut instead of broken), there's at least

a) Increased pain of using the part for anything
b) Infection from getting dirt in the wound as you step on it

Perhaps, in general, I should increase the pain of a wound if you use the part that is wounded.

With all the blood that's being splattered around, it probably won't be too hard to get a blood-borne disease in this game...

Woah there...do you think there might be a such thing as TOO reallistic?I mean nobody wants to play a "Realistic" rpg about war(Viet Nam,civil war etc.) because that would involve a lot of creating characters who die from simple infections and diseases as opposed to heroes who take out a whole concentration camp full of armed guards with a bowie knife while freeing MIA's.

I suppose it's a matter of balancing things out -- I don't want the player to be able to go gallivanting about with exposed entrails.  Septicemia and all that are a way to get the player to take care of his or herself.  Like hunger, infection rates would be reasonable (you won't die from infection immediately after getting wounded).  I did this in Dragslay, and it wasn't a game spoiler.  Your wounds just get red and after a few weeks start oozing pus, and you have to see a healer of some kind, or take care of it yourself.

Hmmm...  I don't know.  I'll have to think more about it.  Like anything, if it is just an annoyance, it will be removed or toned down.  The most likely candidates for infection would be nasty mangled limbs and abdomens that are probably player-killers anyway.  Infection just makes the death experience more rewarding :)

yea wont it be nice to play a roguelike where the BIGGEST PROBLEM isnt just getting
some food?

I swear.. i dont know why people have to make food such a trial... i mean.. yes its important.. but it seems to me that its more extreme... when half your hihg score list says 'starved to death' (or deaths that were caused by starving rampages) its a bit rediculous... just cuz there ISNT enough food to eat!!! (or it costs outrageous amounts.. like more than swords for a snack!)

The REAL problem with food is that once you dont have any in your stomach you immediately die.  I look forward to having a character who is starving for week of real game play in Armok!

Various other things:


A bug...weapon fragments weight AS MUCH AS THE ORIGINAL WEAPON!
Also the broken weapon,even if it has fragments,does NOT loose weight!
You also get no message if your weapon brokes...

Another "weight bug"is the fact that SKINS and a lot of other minor
body parts have no weight...including HEARTS!


Also when you become Inconscious and go waiting,the screen becomes
black,you can quit pressing SHIFT+Q and Y but you see no message.

Also,you cannot stop appling pressure to a wound.

And,if you pick a body with items in it,you must drop the body
to get the items.

When are you adding the possibility to "CRUSH"items?

By the way...i think is strange that almost all blows to the
head kill...INCLUDING PUNCHES!I was playing an human,and my foe
was a non-titan,non-giant humanoid.

When we watch another creature body part(because we mutilated it)
we should see(i think)the description almost as the creature would
see it by pressing STATUS and then changing to his species descrpition
screen to see that particular body part description

He he he.  Yeah -- I kind of bypassed a lot of item concerns in my rush to put things out.  The descriptions are also flawed in that they don't respect damage at all.  I'll fix all of that up in the clean up release (which is getting to be rather bloated).  The same goes for the quitting bug.

I need to add in the container interface.  This will be added when I put containers back in the game.  I don't know what the best time for that is -- it's just another one of those missing details.  It definitely needs to go in before/when I add missile weapons, so that ammo isn't a pain.

Probably when I put in vegetation -- all of the items are made of steel right now, so you wouldn't be able to crush them unless you are a titan.  We'll be able to get a lot more out of crushing if there are lots of fruit and vegetables around.
