It wasn't usual to see old age deaths in other races than humans... humans have a much shorter life span than dorfs or the immortal elves.

Even a respectable age in mog-years.

Wasn't max age supposed to be a range?
The exactly 1000 years seems like a failsafe max to the oldage not working...
(Will probably be implemented/fixed in the lifecycle/diseases arcs)

(ie a check for natural causes death, starting at maturity and rising in probability with years. cumulative odds are stacked. against living far past reproductive age.)

How would humanity fare with only a ~35 year lifespan?

He didn't live to 1000, he died in the year 1000
He was probably born in 950ish.
