[39c] Dwarf(s?) gets killed by "friendly" trap.
« on: July 20, 2008, 03:41:40 am »

So Īteb is running back from his successful hunt bearing a groundhog corpse on him for the butcher.

He runs inside over a weapontrap holding 3 obsidian swords and gets diced up. As far as I know, this isn't supposed to happen.

Only happened once so far.

He wasn't rampaging or upset or anything, just returning the kill. The only modification I made to this game is add the [CAN_STONE] tag to war-hammers. I made a save right after the hunter got killed if its of any help.

I tried searching for an existing bug but couldn't find any, sorry in advance if I missed it though.

Perhaps the groundhog was only mostly dead, and triggered the trap itself?

Also possible is that the trap was activated by something else on the tile at the same time as the hunter, although I can't say for certain that traps work like that.

It said corpse so I gotta stick with that it was really "dead".

Could of been a thief, but that would be really strange, I didn't get any notification/warning. The area is also full of dogs/animals, including the hunting dog assigned to the hunter was standing next to him.

Its like one of the most busiest intersections above ground... You could be right, but no thief ever made it to my drawbridge even because of the mass of wardogs assigned to follow Woodcutters and pets running around. (No magma, got a massive deforestation project going on. Im more or less chopping everything down that will burn).

Really strange, maybe a fluke. At least I know that trap works! (a bit to well maybe) Wish it worked on immigrants and not on one of my veteran hunters. (Although I admit, I only make hunters to see how long they survive.)

For some reason I've been noticing my hunters in particular sleeping in the oddest of places even when they have perfetly adequate quarters. Since the latest version marks sleeping dwarves as unconscious and unconscious creatures trigger traps, I wonder if your hunter decided to take a nap on top of the trap...

i just had this happen to me... well a cage trap caught him but same diff...
when i got him out, he was unconcious, because he was sleeping...
so it would make sense, if he was going to sleep over the cage trap when it got him...

but why is it triggering for dwarfs now? i have had hunters sleeping on traps before...
i'm sure of it, failing that i have had a dwarf unconcious on traps before...

Is it bad that the first thing I thought of when I read this was "Caged nobles!"? :D
