I do always wonder how the dwarves, elves, and humans stay alive down there for however many thousands of years there are in between "a time before time" and the time when you open the pits. Even more confusing is that the pits were somehow created through an alliance between the elves and the dwarves, as mentioned in one of ThreeToe's stories. Is there any official story as to how they got there, or will that have to wait until the game is finished?

Maybe they were holding off the demons while some powerful magi were sealing the demons along with them?

Be glad they're caged (most of em anyways).

I had 70 uncaged denizens of the underworld running around babbling in a fortress of 100. OH GOD FRAMERATE D:

And then demons. Oh god, 8 armed demons wrestling with 4 two-armed dwarves.

1. Go to the first post. Click on "modify."
2. Click in the subject box.
3. Type in *Spoilers* at the end. *Hidden Fun Stuff* or *Hidden Fun Stuff Spoilers* also works, or you can use ( and ) or [ and ] instead of * and *, if you prefer.
4. Click "save" below the large white box you see on your screen.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I like to think of the insane residents there as damned folks, and your little fort has made its way to some lost souls and their tormentors. Bone meal sounds tasty though...

Be glad they're caged (most of em anyways).

I had 70 uncaged denizens of the underworld running around babbling in a fortress of 100. OH GOD FRAMERATE D:

And then demons. Oh god, 8 armed demons wrestling with 4 two-armed dwarves.

The first time I breached a pit that had tormented folks in it, they decided to beat the hell out of every dwarf they could get to, and thanks to their massive weight of numbers (not to mention all the tentacle demons backing them up and the big'un hurling flame from the back) they managed to overwhelm my military. Last dwarf, lying in bed, was killed by a mob of captives.

I'd actually had bridges down in the tunnels that closed off access to the lower depths, but by time I'd decided to pack it in I'd already lost about twenty untrained conscripts that I'd sent down as a melee shield, the one or two champion melee'ers that I had up to this occurence also fell, and most of my numerous marksdwarves either charged in like idiots or were torn apart by tentacle demons. The survivors were rather upset, I tried to introduce law and order along with well-stocked and luxuriously appointed prisons so they'd stop beating the hell out of eachother, but there weren't enough even-tempered dwarves left. So I lowered the bridges and waited for the end.
