Can't cook using only booze?
« on: July 19, 2008, 09:48:55 am »

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended behaviour, but I have lots of barrels of wine and rum, and I have it allowed to use those in cooking. But whenever I try to make a meal, it says it needs X unrotten food items to prepare it. I think it only works when I have at least one item other then booze used in the cooking. This does make sense, but I was wondering if it could be a bug.

I think it was considered an exploit to turn booze into food, so it was disabled in the current version.

I believe the .38a/b/c versions were the first ones where if you did cook with booze only, the meals then turned into puddles.  I suppose Toady's tweaked that so that you can't cook with only booze anymore.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

That's two different things.
You could cook with only booze
And booze food melted.

They had nothing to do with each other, the temperature settings for cooked food got added and food made of booze melted.

Ok, I'm guessing it is more realistic this way. A stew made entirely of Rume/Ale/Wine wouldn't be much of a stew anyway. I'll let my dwarves live off Plump helmets until I find another source of food to cook with. (last time I played I cooked up all my plump helmets and starved my dwarves to death, I'm afraid I'll forget to turn cook off again and kill my dwarves)
