[39c] Materials Bug
« on: July 18, 2008, 10:16:25 pm »

When making constructions, some of my materials (also with other things, like mechanisms and levers) are at the top of the list, and are -12000 (some large negative number) distance away, and whenever I try to build with it, there's a path finding problem and the building is suspended. This may be the cause of my previous bug (http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=20852) but I no longer have the save for that, so I can't check.

I am not sure at all what causes this, it just started happening sometime around my 5th year (or so) and more and more objects started falling under it. I don't think it's a forbidden object problem, because I don't recall ever forbidding anything and I've frequently reclaimed multiple z levels to try and fix it.

This happens when the path connected component numbers become broken.  If it doesn't resolve when you reload (when it rebuilds path information), I can take a look at the save.  Let me know how to reproduce the broken building distance information.  Are there any odd ramp/stair setups you've tried out?  There are many cases for those, and some might be busted.

I'll need the region folder in some kind of zip/rar/7z, and any new objects that were added to the raw folder.  If it's less than 20 megs, you can send it to toadyone@bay12games.com.  You can also try The Dwarf Fortress File Depot which has a special section for bugged saves.
