Where are my drunken friends? All i got are snobby warriors.

So starting off with an unskilled adventurer seems a lot harder now. Warriors won't join you unless you're tougher than them, and farmers and butchers wander around looking like drunks.

Also, i haven't found any drunks, even in human mead halls. At least not yet.

Where are my drunken buddies?  :-[

I think its a bug, I've never seen a drunk in the newest version, except for demon drunks.


I personally make a ton of adventurers with only some points spent, and retire them all in one town. Then you can recruit them with an adventurer who spent all his points, and they will always join you. The fun thing about this is that you just spend one point in a skill, and you will the have the equivalent of unskilled drunks - but with basic equipment and a weapon.

It may have something to do with everyone having professions now. Things with professions don't show up as drunk, even if they have the personality traits for it.

I've had a drunken companion in the most recent version. Found him in the mead hall. They are rarer now though. Enjoy your regular, useful mercs.

If you use a tileset it's quite easy to find a drunk.

And I prefer hammermen, they make funny blows which send enemies flying. Now I'm trying to get my axemanship to a legendary level to hire a legendary crossbowman. I looked in legends and he killed 34 elves, a dragon and an ettin.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that you need higher stats than the person you're hiring, not a greater level of skill.  I did some experimenting before using DC to give me a ton of skills without the normal stat gains.  I couldn't recruit any more followers than I could before the change.

To recruit MORE you need more fame.
To recruit more skilled you need more skills.
