Immigrant reception area
« on: August 01, 2008, 11:55:39 am »

I'd like a room or a zone where all the immigrants go to wait for a while instead of heading straight for the statue garden/meeting room/dining room, that are the usual hangout places of other dwarves.

Nobles, especially the more "important" ones, could also complain if they're not received well - if the room's value is not high enough or if the mayor doesn't come to welcome them or something.

This would be very useful for a variety of reasons...sometimes I don't have time to track a wave of immigrants to tinker with their settings ASAP (turn off hunting or fishing etc). And it would be REALLY useful late game to set this zone in a room with a lever activated waterfall...and no drainage.

You can sort of do this now. Isolate the interior of your fort from the immigrants, such as locking doors. Then have an outside meeting zone for your migrants to head to. They'll stay in that meeting zone, which could be built on top of a retractable bridge above a lake or magma.
