Booze Bomb crash
« on: July 10, 2008, 03:02:51 am »

So, I decided to make a really big booze bomb, probably some 4-5 thousand units of booze, couple hundred barrels. I want to take a recording of the event, obviously, so I set that going before I drill into the magma pipe. The game slows to a crawl, I get a whole bunch of messages about masterwork barrels being lost, I see a couple bits of shrapnel flying...and the game crashes. Nothing in the error log, either. Any ideas?

My only guess would be you literally blew up the program.  It's probably choking on all the calculations of temperature changes, force pushes, flying bits, damage checks, and mood alterations of the dwarves.

I hate to say this, but have you considered trying a smaller bomb?  Savescum and work your way up in size until you hit the breakpoint.  You may have found some sort of memory limitation or buffer overflow.

But...but...but...

Oh fine. I figured it was probably something like that. But really! I didn't even go for the full 8000 booze I had on hand! :P

Do you have a save where it crashes?
