would it be possible to create a medal from metals and give it to a dwarf for distinguished bravery during combat or something? and you could write a description like "for valor and bravery whilst under fire/charging and elephant/slaughtering an elven caravan" or "for rescuing a dwarf whilst under fire/from an elephant/tripped and broke his leg whilst slaughtering an elven caravan" or similar and would be worth a lot but not a trade good (you can't sell bravery, unless you are a mercenary) and gives the dwarf a happy thought. is this possible? like that hats mod? because i would love to reward a dwarf for bravery other than just him becoming a super powerful tank with an axe.

Hats mod just makes more names for existing item. You can't sadly make new item type. You can simulate a "medal" via cloak or something, but there's no way to give it to a specific dwarf.
