I checked the wiki and it said that they "allow for specific blocks and bars to be stored with custom settings" in a bar/block stockpile. However, I only see "rock" as an option for material.

Is there a way to limit a bar/block stockpile to a specific type of stone? I'm building a new surface fortress out of obsidian blocks, and want a stockpile outside to assist.

Create the rock stockpile, and then once it is created you can select it via "Q" and edit the specific preferences, deselecting other rock/ore types.

He's asking about blocks, not rocks. I have no idea how.

Create the Bar/Block stockpile:
(p) (b) - place cursor - enter - size stockpile - enter.

Space to go back to the main view. View the stockpile with (q). Press (s) for settings.

You should see a list of possible stockpiles on the left, with "Bars/Blocks" in lighter color. Use the cursor keys to scroll down to "Bars/Blocks".

In the middle column, you'll see
Bars
Bars: Metal
Blocks
Blocks: Metal

Cursor right to move to the four categories listed above. The commands to enable or disable storing stuff there are listed onscreen.

Yeah, I had that much. The catch seems to be that in the "blocks" sub-menu, your choices are limited to rock and glass. I can't seem to specify which type of rock.

I don't think it is possible.

There are some ways around it though. Like having an obsidian stone stockpile near the masons and only producing obsidian blocks. Or using the mod that makes all stones economic, only enabling obsidian to be used for the same result as above.
