A Cleft Brook
« on: July 07, 2008, 06:11:54 pm »

When I was building roads, I  built one over a the apex of a brook's meander. Now none of you will be surprised that I killed that brook when I deconstructed that road, cutting the brook in two. What's interesting is that the south part of the brook did not freeze until mid-winter, but the north part (and the water under the deleted brook tiles) froze early on. This meant I have a right angle of ice in my river and it's freaking me out.
So does anyone know how the game decides what it should freeze? The north and the south are in different biomes, if that matters.

Yes, biome does matter. Any time you have a brook or other water feature crossing more than one biome, there's a chance that the temperatures will be different enough to cause this.

I think removing the brook tiles had an effect though; the right-angle of ice takes place in the warmer biome, and it exactly matches the road's footstep.

Could you perhaps post a screenshot? I'm not exactly sure what you mean.
