Problem with DF & OpenGL
« on: July 15, 2008, 12:32:38 pm »

A picture is worth a thousand words:

I must have enabled some weird setting on my video card, and now I have no idea how to turn it off. Can someone help me get rid of this strange overlay?

Weird!
Without knowing your hardware and system configuration, I can only suggest the uninstallation of your video card driver, then reinstallation with its newest available drivers.

Looks like the "porthole" effect from AMD/ATI's Catalyst drivers:

Take a look at your extenden video card settings ("3D", "Custom", and "SmartShader" may be things to watch out for). The article has some pictures of the settings, but it is from 2003, so the info may be outdated:

Yup, I used to have an ATI 9600 All-In-Wonder, and it had some neat filter effects... one of them even rendered fullscreen 3D in ASCII! This is some kind of mod to Quake, not ATI's filter, but it gives you an idea of what that looked like.

I think I played a game with it for about 2 minutes before I became nauseous and had to quit.
