Magma over long channel

Is it true that the magma eventually does not go further anymore because it vaporises since it does not provide enough flow to replace the magma that vaporises?

magma only vaporizes (like water) if it is at 1/7 depth for some time. Generally speaking, no matter how long your channel the magma will flow fast enough that it will not stay at 1/7 anywhere long enough to vaporize.

Now if you try some super wide channel with a very small connection to the magma, or some other odd thing like that you might run into trouble. But for a standard 1 or 2 tile wide channel it should be OK.

I remember making a channel that split several times giving each of them too little magma and it all vaporized.
