Well, I'm nowhere near the point where the goblins are here, I'm not even a year in, I'm trying to get my created/owned wealth up now though. I WILL try to remember to take a vid, and if someone could tell me how to put them up I'll post them if anyone wants.

Hmm... There are ways to get through the aquifer, but the easiest is to have magma on the map that at the very least reaches as high as the aquifer layer.

I don't have any magma on my map that I know of, prospector doesn't show stuff in towns or mountain homes.

Save-scum then run reveal.exe.

Also, is any part of the layer with the aquifer on a cliff or has empty space next to it? If so, you can breach the aquifer and eventually it should all flow out. Or at least become manageable.

Here's what you do...

First, mod the [BABYSNATCHER] out of goblins.  Sieges all the time, baby!

Second, set up shop in the human capitol and move everything inside the big keep ASAP.

Third, make yourself comfortable by tearing up part of the floor and planting aboveground crops there (or, dig underground and set up underground crops). 

Finally, build a drawbridge outside the doors and wait for all the squatters to get out.  Once they're out of the keep and into dangerous territory, pull up the drawbridge and watch the show.

Does that require making a new world?

I'll give that a shot, and as far as I know their is no cliff on the aquifier level.

If there's anything aboveground, on that z-level, or empty space or ground below that z-level, you'll be fine. I've also heard that there are other ways, but they typically involve mechanical wizardry.

Well, the miner tried to kill himself by throwing himself off a 1 z level drop repeatedly. The carpenter went mad. And the gem cutter went berserk, killing all my immigrant recruits(All 20+ of them) without taking a scratch. So, I'm restarting the project.

Me spending all my time trying to get past the aquifier when giving them no beds or rooms at all, so they had to sleep outside in the rain and dirt I think is what caused it.

I built an 'Embassy' in the human kingdom. It was a grand plan. I was going to upgrade their walls, throw in a couple of taverns and a decent merchants quarter, and so on. It all fell apart when my cunning plan to get through the aquifer by mining under the temple failed, miserably.
