'Tree' 'Muddy Shrub' Red Text
« on: June 28, 2008, 09:44:44 pm »

For some reason the text for the trees/shrubs in this area has turned red and capitalized, I think it has something to do with me freezing the area using the pond. I'm running a human fortress generated with a new world with a pop-cap of 0, other than that nothing is modded.

Last time this came up it was corrupted save files and the game didn't really know what was in those squares, or something like that.

Doh, 38b. I can't believe that I've been running an old version all this time.

No.. Wait. I'm running the current version.

So when you say the area froze, did you specifically freeze some water over those plants and not the others?

Essentially I assigned a pond one z level above the area, not just the specific squares. If you check the 'before' save you can see exactly how much I covered in ice.

Look at all those humans.  I'll note down the problem.  It's probably just deleting the vegetation without updating the tile.

This happened to me as well. To make it occur all you need to do is flood a big pond with shrubs and trees in it. Let it freeze and mine out the ice. Instead of revealing brown dead shrubs they are replaced by capital red text.

I think you said the reason this happened was that it forgets to record what is on that tile after it gets frozen. And then when it gets uncovered it looks for the info but can't find it. Or something like that, that was months ago.

I've had this happen to me. Question: What kind of wood do they produce?
