These are outdoor plants, dwarves don't like those sissy outdoor plants.

Instead of [BIOME_NOT_FREEZING], use this: [BIOME_SUBTERRANEAN_WATER].

I'm playing a race with outdoor farming. They're able to bring the standard outdoor plants. I'm not sure what I did to make these not work.  :)

I have tried this, and as far as I know, the seed name tag is not required. The default is just to slap the word seed on the end of the plant name. This may have changed, however.

I believe only edible plants can be brought on embark. (i.e. Plump Helmets, but not Pig Tails)

Since these are not edible raw (i didn't see the tag, anyway, my eyes are old) you may only bring the seeds.

I have explored this.
Basically, the only plants that can be brought at embark are those with ONLY the biome subterranean token.  If you add any other token to it, it is no longer available at embark, even if the biome subterranean water token is still there.  Example from my mod: I had Calvatia Gigantea be a biome subterranean plant, but decided to make it an abovegorund plant.  I could bring it with me at embark becore adding the other biome token (when it was only subterranean) but not after.

Add the [OUTDOOR_FARMING] token to the dwarven entity and dwarves will have all outdoor seeds available to them as well as indoor varieties.

The only problem with outdoor farming is your dwarves will use surface wood as well.  You lose some of that dwarf flavor when they don't exclusively bring tower-cap wagons/barrels/bins/cages with their caravans.

I agree.
But I mean for testing purposes.
I have been testing my plants via starting off in various habitats and then... building a fort with a complex farm to last me until I can test all in that area.  Now I can just bring seeds with me at embark... testing will be greatly sped up.

Yes, it is a shame that there is no specific way to designate particular varieties of goods for every civilization. I would like it if I could make the mithril in my game un-traded without making it take the place of some of the adamantine but it simply isn't possible at this point. Obviously, it would make sense that dwarves could get a load-out of goods that are [BIOME_MOUNTAIN] even if they aren't subterranean. It's a shame that it can't be done yet. Perhaps in the future the raw files will be intuitively customizable to every desire in that you can create your own categories or specific availabilities for all goods. Until that point, however, we'll have to make due.
