Representation of larger then life creatures.
« on: March 06, 2008, 11:25:00 am »

How would you represent a creature thats actualy to large to actualy be represented in the game. I am talking about the mega beasy thing from nordic viking mythology called a midgardsnake (there was only one) that had the size to reach around the world.

Can't, unless you feel like making it a soil type.  The only creatures larger than a single tile are wagons, which need two animals to pull it and one merchant to sit on it in order to prevent spontaneous deconstruction.

Could a megabeast be a water creature. Would be great to have just a "head" representation that lurks around the shores or could it end up in for instans a lake?

That would be kinda cool though.  I don't think it would be all that happy about you mining deep for large snake bone though.

Wasn't Fenrir supposed to be pretty big too?  I can see it now, mining for snake meat at low altitudes and mining for wolf meat in mountains.

I agree that megabeasts need to be bigger (a colossus really should be more, you know, colossal).  It looks like Toady is at least considering it.

Surely the tallow mines are evidence that there was, once, a fifth elephant...

Dammit, I now feel inclined to make a mod where you really do mine for tallow and meat.  You could smelt it into a useable form.
