It's waiting for the adventurer overhaul. Also, it's in part because you need to cook things you kill and currently all you can do is set them on fire, which doesn't cook them, it destroys them. Believe me, I tried to cook a carp and eat it. All I got were 2 burnt hands and an !!Xcarp corpseX!!

well you can go into the files and remove to [NONBUTCHERABLE_STANDARD] and that makes most of the creatures edible
