Waterskin?

Is it possible to refill your waterskin in the new version (33a)? My current adventurer has to track down an ettin in a humongous 5-level cave full of trogs, swallowmen, giant bats and even some fire imps, and I'd like to be able to stay down there for a while... but I'm all out of water.

Yes, find some water (brook, etc) and SHIFT-I and select the waterskin - you'll get options to fill from each tile of water you touch.

Check down 1 z-level first, though - first time I tried refilling my waterskin, I got hit by a carp and a hippo chomped my arm...

Ok, cool, thanks a ton. I note that I got 'stagnant water' from the brook near town... will that hurt my adventurer at all?

Stagnant water tastes bad, so your adventurer won't drink it until he's really thirsty.  Eventually it might have side effects.

I doubt that.  Adventure mode is currently bugged, as mentioned, and in my practice, so that you can eat mud, vomit or blood without being hungry or thirsty, as long as the aforesaid nastiness was carried with you (on your boots).

I dunno, my guy wouldn't touch ichor or blood or mud, but he would drink water off of himself when it rained, and he didn't hesitate to drink the stagnant water. He got his head beat in by a giant wielding breeches though.  :(

After reading this topic, I dropped off the map and went to the nearest lake to refill my empty waterskin - but now I can't find it in my inventory.

Do you automatically discard it when you drink the last drop?   Or is it hiding somewhere?

I have never once seen a fish in adventure mode. Wheres a good place to find them? I want to try my luck at strangling one of the beasts.
