Not till Toady adds in all the fortressing skills to adventure mode. Also I hope it doesn't take a real time amount of time, cuz each square could take like 50 turns or something.

It would be that long I think. Toady planned on a release every 2 weeks, so I think in 6 months it'll be in, in the worst case.

:/ The next year or two is what the actual claim is for this to happen; it's under "Version 1 Development", and it's pretty far down on that page (which may either mean nothing or mean that a lot of other things will be done first).  The next major thing to go in is armies, though, which will be an awesome thing to get involved in for Adventure mode and really liven it up.

It would be cool if you could craft and stuff in adventure mode.

It would be nice if Toady managed to add those features soon, like, maybe allowing adventurers to mine, then allowing them to use abandoned workshops, then allowing them to construct things

You can simulate armies with Play Now! in a goblin fortress, abandoning, and reclaiming the site.  They're a push over, though.  Apparently, goblins leave just their women behind while sieging.

Goblin strategy:
Leave woman and invalids at home to defend, siege the world!
?
Profit!

That's 300 (divided by 300), which I would like to do, but really I'd much prefer being able to do it against humans, elves, and/or dwarves.  I'd also like to do that repeatedly, one army after another until one of them croaks me.  But it's not just that which Toady has in mind; when Toady's done, we'll also be able to *join* armies in adventure mode and fight wars alongside ally NPCs.

Didn't Toady mention somewhere that he wanted the player to be able to not only join entities, but also be able to rise to the power of said entities..?

Like I understood it, you could start working for the human army, but eventually end up being the general, or the king pherhaps...

(This information may be wrong though. Don't rely too much on it.)

I'm guessing adventure-mode crafting and such will be put in soon after buildings are put into the raws, or at least all the stuff you can do in them. Might not mean anything, but the smelter has this in the new version, so maybe soonish.

Doesn't work. When you reclaim, the goblins completely vanish.
