Is the benefits from using a halberd instead of a battle axe greater than the benefits from using a shield? I am a level 6 shield user, I didn't start out with high shield because I thought I'd get a halberd If I didn't have high shield, lol.

Shields are important for not getting hit in the brain with an arrow, and in my opinion that outweighs hitting other people in the brain with a halberd.

Well, advice well taken, but my shield experience hasn't gone up for an in-game year. That's after countless caves, goblin fortresses, ruins, and kobold towers, I don't know why, but I seem to never use my shield. I've also been nearly mortally wounded with the shield which is because it's been on lvl 7 for forever.

I decided to switch my battle axe and shield for a great axe . . . I don't use my brain anyway . . .
