What's a hungry head?

I was looking at legends and found this.  What does this mean?


Did they have a body and get their head chopped off?!?!  Hungry head?   Do I have a vampire head running around this world?!?!

I actually can't remember ever seeing one, but it's been a very long time since I've dug down to the caverns.
