Marksdwarves and bolts
« on: January 21, 2023, 07:00:42 am »

So, I had the famous problem of marksdwarves not being able to use ammo stored in bins.
The solution to this problem can be found easily, so I did what Internet told me: made a new stockpile configured only for ammo WHITHOUT bins.

It seems my dwarves don't use this stockpile, and prefer storing bolts in quivers, themselves stored in bins, themsleves stored in a finished goods stockpile (which is set to NOT accept bolts...).

Any idea to prevent this... ?

(I know it's due to a bug but I'm posting it here since I'm looking for a workaround)

I write off any bolts which accidentally end up in bins. Start making them anew in a stockpile that doesn't accept bins and remove the old pile. Dwarves might eventually rescue your bolts, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I never ever make bins. One misplaced bin and all your careful stockpile management goes down the drain. Quantum dump everything.
It does take some more hauling power when supplying the trade depot, but it's not that bad compared to how bins can mess things up.
