Part A: New type of location "Room Suite" which would mainly be a tool for grouping rooms under a common owner.
Part B: Allow rooms/suites to be designated as symbols of office that can be automatically transferred to the successor

Applications:
Mainly for streamlining noble/admin micromanagement. Appoint new manager, they automatically get the old manager's study and you can get back to setting up work orders that much faster.  Mayors change frequently enough that not having to micromanage reassignment of their rooms would be nice.

There may also be future applications in setting up family households where all the rooms in a suite are shared between the family of the head of household. With inheritable property comes the potential for inheritance disputes, a classic source of drama/Fun

God, yeah, having a suite of rooms assigned to a position rather than a particular dwarf would be great.

If a dwarf becomes mayor though and moves into the mayoral suite, should they ditch ownership of their old room if they had one, or keep it and preferentially use the best of the two?

Indeed, the idea could be developped, with rural households having farmplots and urban ones having shops or workshops.
