Export local image?
« on: January 04, 2023, 07:58:54 pm »

Attempting to export my local image so I can identify default values for the basic world gen preset options, but all the information says to use keybinds that don't work anymore, or to navigate to a menu that isn't where it used to be from what I can tell. Anyone know how to do this now?

When I use default advanced settings, the world is only -30 deep. But with basic world gen, the world is much deeper, like it should be.

In the newest version (0.50+) there is no option to export world parameters (yet?). You need to make them with
advanced parameters in the first place, and a fixed seed if you want something re-do able (maybe in the log file there is something during world gen but I haven't checked that yet).
As for the z levels, sure, defaults in advanced and basic ain't the same, but nothing stops you to change the z levels you want up to some crazy high worlds.

I used Advanced World Gen and found magma about -95z (beachfront embark). I'd be surprised if the "basic world gen preset options" were different than the unmodified ..\prefs\world_gen.txt.

The gamelog.txt does contain the Seed, the History Seed, Creature Seed, but only the name of the world's parameter set. So if you modified that named parameter set since the world gen, you probably cannot recreate the same world using the original seeds.

People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

I understand how to change the depth, but I was hoping that I'd be able to get the values to achieve the regular depth that I experience in worlds made with the "basic" options. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait.

technicaly it seems "standard" worldgen uses the "hidden" pre-set called :
CREATE WORLD NOW = 5415435
( name, i guess depending on options)
would be good if we could acces to those somehow in detailed. (it is not the same as region/island from advanced, try to regen the same thing and you will see)
